The value of cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions in Belgium was believed to decrease to slightly less than 4.5 billion U.S. dollar sin 2020. Increasing confidence helped mergers and acquisitions to rise higher than expected in previous years. Reasons for this included an improving labor market, rising intra EU-trade and growing business investment. Note, however, that this prediction for 2020 was made before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
