This statistic shows the legal aid expenditures in Canada from 2011 to 2015. In fiscal year ended March 31, 2015, the expenditures of legal aid in Canada amounted to 850 million Canadian dollars.
Legal aid plans have been established in all provinces and territories with the common goal of assisting lower-income Canadians who require legal services either for criminal or civil matters.

* Expenditures refer to the actual gross dollars expended by the legal aid plan in a given fiscal year. Expenditures made on behalf of the plan by other agencies are not included. Total expenditures includes expenditures on direct legal service, other program expenditures, central administrative expenditures and any other expenditure. Figures have been rounded.
