In 2023, there were nearly 1.7 million transit displays in the United States, making this format the most common type of out-of-home (OOH) advertising in that country. The category included traditional and digital displays in airports, buses, rails, subways, mobile billboards, taxis, and ride-shares, as well as vehicle wraps. Place-based displays – including ads in arenas, stadiums, cinemas, shopping malls, etc. – ranked second with over 1.4 million displays across the U.S. However, billboards were by far the OOH format with the highest ad revenues in the U.S. that year.
