The finale of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 was viewed by about 5.3 million people in Italy. This is the second-highest audience for a Eurovision Grand Final in Italy since their return in 2011, second only to the 2022 edition when Italy hosted. The average audience of the ESC in the country during the period from 1987 to 2024 peaked in 1991 at about 6.7 million viewers. Due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was cancelled and a replacement show named "Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light" was broadcasted instead of the contest's finale.
