The share of life insurance and annuity entitlements in financial assets of households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) in Austria decreased by 1.7 percent of household and NPISH financial assets (-17.97 percent) in 2022 in comparison to the previous year. Therefore, 2022 marks the lowest share in this industry during the observed period.
Net equity of households in life insurance reserves and in pension funds consists of reserves held against life insurance and annuity policies by insurance enterprises, whether mutual or incorporated, and by pension funds, these reserves are considered to be assets of the policyholders and not of the institutional units that manage them.
