TV viewers of the Eurovision Song Contest in Spain 2007-2023

2008 gave the Eurovision Song Contest the highest viewership in Spain, capturing the attention of 9.3 million Spaniards that year. However, the 2023 broadcast only reached 4.8 million viewer.s

Eurovision and its viewers

The Eurovision Song Contest is a musical competition of singers from various countries, mostly in Europe. A different country each year hosts, with the 2002 finals in Tallinn capturing the most TV viewers in Spain. Most years, the contests garners about a third of the entire Spanish audience share of TV viewers.

The Spanish participation in the contest

Of course, Spain is not simply a viewer. The country has sent 60 participants to the Eurovision Song Contest since its founding in 1956. Perhaps unsurprisingly, their neighbors Portugal and France have awarded Spain with the highest number of votes awarded over the years. In spite of this support, however, Spain is tied with Germany and others with only two victories.
