Types of coffee consumed at home in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2017
Instant coffee was the most popular household coffee types in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2017. During a survey period in February of that year, 74 percent of polled individuals reported that it is the type of coffee they usually consume at home. Ranked second as the most commonly consumed coffee type was the cappuccino with 26 percent of respondents.
Instant coffee
The invention and patenting of instant coffee dates back to 1881. Its widespread popularity among the British population is associated with the U.S. ration packs that were sent to the United Kingdom during World War Two. Despite the widespread popularity, its current status might be a subject to change as the younger generation of Britons prefers coffee in a wider variety of forms. While the U.S. got the UK hooked on instant coffee, consumers in the States prefer to make drip coffee for themselves.
