Instagram users in Norway as of Q4 2023, by age group and gender

Women aged between 30 and 39 years were the group with the highest share of Instagram users in Norway in the fourth quarter of 2023. Approximately 87 percent of them used the social media platform. By comparison, 74 percent of men in Norway of the same age group used Instagram. Norwegian men aged 60 or older were the least present demographic on Instagram for the evaluated period.

As of September 2023, Instagram held the third largest share of the social media market in the country, accounting for 11.69 percent of all users. The number of Instagram users in Norway is expected to experience a decreasing trend between 2023 and 2025. However, Instagram remains an engaging platform for its Norwegian audience, with a reported daily usage rate of 40 percent as of the fourth quarter of 2022.

Overall, the share of Norwegians participating in social media increased in recent years. Social network usage in Norway is expected to continue to grow, reaching 93.13 percent of the country’s digital population by 2026. As of the fourth quarter of 2023, the share of internet users registered to social media in Norway varied by gender and platform. Around 39 percent of women reported being Pinterest users, while only 16 percent of men used the platform. In comparison, more men than women reported using YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
