The number of visitors to museums and ruins in Turkey fell dramatically in 2020 over the previous year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2020, the number of visitors to Turkey's public and private museums dropped to roughly 14 million in 2020, the lowest figure recorded since 2005. In 2023, the total number of visitors to museums and ruins in the country significantly increased and peaked at 55.75 million.
