This survey shows the causes of self-reported hearing loss among adults in the U.S. who had any trouble hearing without a hearing aid as of 2014, by gender. It was found that among men who reported trouble hearing without a hearing aid, 14.8 percent said it was caused by a brief, loud noise, compared to just 2.1 percent of women.
