As of 2017, the expenditure by the festival visitors in the Netherlands amounted to 929 million euros in 2017, an increase compared to the previous year and the highest festival expenditure reached between 2013 and 2017. Observing the event industry, the total number of music festival visits increased from 2015 onwards. In 2015, 14.1 million visitors attended music festivals in the Netherlands and by 2017, this increased to approximately 17.5 million music festival visits.
