Debit card payment transaction volume change in the Netherlands 2006-2020
In 2020, debit card payments increased by approximately three percent when compared to the previous year.In the Netherlands, the total number of credit cards reached roughly 6.5 million in 2018. According to the Dutch Central Bank (DNB), approximately 55 percent of all Dutch consumers have a credit card in his or her possession. The use of debit cards, however, is much more accepted as a payment method.
