Leading payment methods for online shopping in the Netherlands 2016-2020
As of 2020, roughly 20 percent of the Dutch respondents who shop online said they prefer to use a debit card or credit card when they shop online. Most preferred to use PayPal or something similar, such as iDEAL. iDEAL is an inter-bank system, local to the Dutch market, allowing shoppers to use their bank account for online purchases. It is covered by all major Dutch consumer banks.
