Leading fish farming companies in Norway 2017, by turnover
In 2017, Marine Harvest ASA ranked first among fish farming companies in Norway. The seafood company, operating around the world, reached a revenue of roughly 34 billion Norwegian kroner. Since January 2019, the company is known under the name Mowi ASA. It is the world’s largest supplier of farmed salmon. LSG ASA and SalMar ASA came in second and third place in the revenue ranking.

All along this coastline, especially salmon farming is very common. It is the number one farmed animal in Norway, reaching a sales volume of roughly 1.2 million metric tons of salmon in 2017.
International trade
As one of the largest exporting countries of fish, the export value of fish and seafood increased strongly in the previous years. In 2017, the export value from Norwegian fisheries and aquaculture reached roughly 95 billion Norwegian kroner. By comparison, the import value of fresh or frozen fish imported into the country was significantly lower, amounting to almost 2.3 billion Norwegian kroner.
