Diversity in radio newsrooms in the United States improved between 2017 and 2021, with African Americans now accounting for 6.7 percent of the total workforce, up from 2.8 in 2017. In its most recent survey held at the end of 2021, the source projected that the share of Hispanic and Latino employees would increase by almost two percent.

The survey held in Q4 2021 was conducted among 765 radio news directors and general managers representing 2,310 radio stations.
