Get in touch with us nowThe volume of manganese ore production in India amounted to an estimated 2.8 million metric tons in financial year 2023. This figure is estimated to have increased to 3.1 million metric tons in the financial year 2024.
With manganese reserves amounting to 34 million metric tons as of 2022, India is also one of the world's most significant producers of the metal. Indeed, India was the world's fifth-largest manganese producing country in 2021. However, despite a globally significant annual production of manganese, India's production of the metal only accounted for 40 percent of domestic consumption during financial year 2021. The total global production volume of manganese amounted to 49.5 million metric tons in 2021, of which India contributed approximately five percent.
India's mining industry is active and broad, producing approximately 95 minerals overall. As of 2020, the total value of coal and metallic mineral production in India amounted to nearly 22 billion U.S. dollars.
