Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is a biographical museum dedicated to the Jewish diarist Anne Frank. It includes the place where, during World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution, together with her family and other people. In 2023, the number of visitors to the museum rose significantly over the previous year, reaching around 1.2 million. Despite the annual increase, attendance did not catch up yet with the peak in visitors recorded in 2019, before the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Majority of museum visitors went to history museums
The total number of museum visitors in the Netherlands amounted to roughly 32 million in 2019. In this respect, art and history museums recorded the highest visitor figures. Art museums attracted roughly 14 million people, whereas history museums received approximately 13.7 million individuals. Observing the total revenue of museums, art and history museums generated together about 897 million euros.
