Plug-in electric vehicle deliveries in the U.S. by brand 2019

Approximately 190,000 Tesla electric vehicles were delivered in the United States in 2019, about eight times as many as the next ranked brand. Overall, approximately 320,000 plug-in electric vehicles were delivered across the country over the course of the year.

California dreamin’ of an electric future

In 2030, an estimated 15 million PEVs will be on the roads in the United States, with the state of California accounting for around 25 percent of that figure. California currently represents the largest EV market in the United States; this can be explained by the state’s high resident population and its incentives for zero-emission vehicles.

Electric avenues: are more public charging points required?

The term plug-in electric vehicle refers to a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV). Both vehicles have a battery pack that can be recharged by plugging into a power source, and both have an electric engine that is capable of powering the vehicle on its own. There is growing pressure on the existing charging infrastructure as the demand for electric vehicles increases – the state of California currently has the highest number of electric vehicle charging stations and outlets in the United States.
