Brazil is by far the leading country in Latin America and the Caribbean based on total hydropower capacity, with an installed capacity of more than 109.9 gigawatts in 2023. Venezuela trailed in second, with a generation capacity of 16.8 gigawatts. In 2022, Latin America's hydropower generation capacity neared 203 gigawatts.
