Value of commissions of domestic life insurance companies in Luxembourg 2006-2017
This statistic illustrates the total value of commissions of domestic life insurance companies in Luxembourg from 2006 to 2017, in million euros. In 2017, total commissions reached a value of approximately 320 million euros. In the most recent Global Financial Centers Index, Luxembourg was ranked as having the fourth most competitive financial center in Europe after London, Zürich and Frankfurt. In recent years, the Grand Duchy made efforts to diversify its financial activities in certain niches such as Chinese and Islamic finance, together with FinTech. Luxembourg's three traditional strengths, however, involve its activities in investment funds, banking and insurance. In 2017, the number of domestic companies operating on the insurance market reached a number of 97 on the total market.
