In 2022, Gruppo Mondadori was the dominant publishing house in Italy in terms of value of books sold. The group in fact had a market share of 27 percent, while books sales by the second publishing house on the list, GeMS (Gruppo Editoriale Mauri Spagnol), accounted for 11 percent of the market that year.
