Household expenditure on culture and recreation in Italy 2010-2020
The total household spending on culture and recreation in Italy dropped sharply in 2020 over the previous year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2020, leisure and cultural venues in Italy had to stay closed for several months, as the country enacted emergency restrictions to curb the rise in infections. As a result of the closures, the household expenditure on culture and recreation reached its lowest point since 2010, amounting to roughly 56.7 billion euros in 2020.
