Since the turn of the century, the farmland dedicated to organic crop cultivation in Spain has been steadily increasing. The surface area was multiplied by almost seven, going from 380 thousand hectares in 2000, to over 2.6 million hectares in 2022. Nonetheless, the size of organic farmlands decreased slightly in 2013 and 2014, before picking up again.

"NOTA: En los años 2012, 2013 y 2014 se excluye de los totales el apartado “6 Otras superficies” para homologarlo con los datos de Eurostat de dichos años.
Según la definición de Eurostat en esos años, en el apartado “6 Otras superficies cultivos específicos)” se incluían las superficies correspondientes a: Terreno forestal y plantas silvestres (sin uso ganadero), Rosa de Damasco, Árboles de navidad y otras superficies no incluidas en ningún otro lugar. En los datos de 2015 no se excluye ninguna superficie de forma expresa."
