In 2022, the amount of olives harvested in Italy for the production of oil reached nearly 2.1 million tons. In detail, the South and Islands of Italy reported 1.8 million tons of harvested olives, while the Center had just over 256 thousand tons. In the North, 2022 was a more successful year for olive oil production compared to 2021 as the region reported a yield of almost 50.5 thousand tons.
