An overview of financial statements from 2017 to 2019 from different media players in the Netherlands reveals how big Google, Facebook and Netflix are. Their exact market size in the country is hard to estimate, however. Facebook Netherlands BV, for example, submits their figures to the parent company, which are then used as part of their financial reporting. The media landscape in the Netherlands is splintered among various domestic and international players, with parent companies sometimes being outside of the country. One example is Bertelman SE, a German conglomerate that owns the Luxembourg RTL Group. This group was responsible for the RTL television channels and various radio channels in the Netherlands.
