Total consumption volume of milk in Norway 2022, by type of milk

In 2022, the most consumed milk type in Norway was low-fat milk. The consumption volume amounted to around 118 million liters. Also popular was extra low-fat milk, having a consumption volume of almost 108 million liters. In general, the consumption of milk in the country decreased slightly in recent years. With 324 million liters, it was lowest in 2022.

 Milk consumption per Norwegian 

The consumption volume of milk per person decreased as well in the period from 2010 to 2022. In 2022, the average volume of milk consumed was roughly 75 liters. In 2022, the per capita consumption volume of low-fat milk was highest, followed by extra low-fat milk and whole milk.

 Production of organic milk 

In the past years, the production volume of organic milk stayed quite stable in Norway. In 2013, it peaked, reaching 55 million liters. By the end of 2019, a volume of 49 million liters of organic milk was produced in the country.
