Poverty line was calculated with the Mixed Reference Period method (MRP) which measures consumption of five low-frequency items (clothing, footwear, durables, education and institutional health expenditure) over a one year period, and all other items over the previous 30 days.
* Poverty line of Tamil Nadu has been used for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Urban Poverty Line of Punjab has been used for both rural and urban areas of Chandigarh. Poverty line of Maharashtra has been used for Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Poverty line of Goa has been used for Daman and Diu. Poverty line of Kerala has been used for Lakshadweep.
One rupee is equal to 0.015 U.S. dollars and 0.014 euros (as of December 2016).
