New cases of HIV diagnosed in Poland 2006-2023
In 2023, the number of new cases of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) diagnosed in Poland amounted to a record of 2,189. The number of HIV cases has increased in Poland since 2006 when 810 cases were reported.
Cases progressing into AIDS
The later stages of HIV are referred to as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The cases of AIDS have generally fallen over the same period, resulting in 114 cases in 2022, down from 167 cases in 2006.
State in the rest of Europe
In 2022, the demographic with the highest amount of new diagnoses of HIV in Europe was males aged 30 to 39 years, with approximately 4,983 cases diagnosed. The most common mode of transmission in this year is homosexual contact.
