Around 45 percent of Japanese reported increased household spending on food-related items, according to a survey conducted between August and September 2023 in Japan. Foodstuffs, daily necessities, and travel expenditures experienced the highest increase in respondents compared to one year earlier, with the categories impacted by inflation and the increasing of travel activities in post-pandemic activities.
