In 2022, the highest abortion rate (voluntary interruption of pregnancy) in Italy was recorded among women aged 30 to 34 years old. Karman method was the second most common kind of intervention in cases of induced abortion. Most of the abortions were performed in public healthcare facilities, whereas less than 5 percent of them took place in private hospitals.
