Attendance at Legoland Windsor exceeded 2.4 million in 2023. Legoland Windsor also ranked as the United Kingdom’s leading amusement park that year. Since 2009, the park saw its highest attendance in 2019.
Building Legoland resorts
The first Legoland opened in Billund, Denmark in 1968, where the Lego brand of children’s toys is headquartered. Legoland Windsor became the second ever Legoland resort to open in 1996 in the UK, and quickly overtook the Danish site in terms of attendance. Collectively, the eight Legoland park resorts attracted a total of around 16.7 million visitors in 2023.
Who owns Legoland?
Legoland Windsor, as well as other Legoland resorts and Legoland Discovery Centre attractions, are owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments. Merlin Entertainments is a global cooperation, headquartered in the UK, that operates leading family attractions worldwide, including theme park resorts, and brands such as Sealife Centres and Madame Tussauds. In total, Merlin's Legoland parks generated around 914 million British pounds in 2023.
