Some 81 percent of American consumers intend to include a turkey in their Thanksgiving meal. About 64 percent plan on serving mashed potatoes, and only 23 percent will serve sweet potato pie.

Thanksgiving is most commonly associated with spending time with family in the comfort of one’s home. About 85 percent of Americans spend their Thanksgiving dinner mainly with family members, with only 28 percent spending their Thanksgiving primarily with friends. For many Americans, Thanksgiving is a very special holiday; meant for spending time with loved ones, reflecting on the things one is thankful for, and enjoying a good meal.
