Electricity price in Italy
The price of electricity for household consumers in Italy increased by over 40 percent between 2021 and 2022. The instability of the electricity market in 2022 was due to the global energy crisis after Russia invaded Ukraine, and to the tightening of the fossil fuel market. In June 2023, Italy accounted for one of the highest electricity prices worldwide, at over 0.4 U.S. dollars per kilowatt-hour.
