The statistic illustrates the number of running events in the Netherlands from 2012 to 2015. In 2015 there were approximately 2,000 running events in the Netherlands. In general, the number of running events increased throughout the years. When comparing 2015 to the year 2012, there was an increase of roughly 600 running events.
When looking at the number of running events per region, Noord-Holland was with a total of 376 running events in 2015 the region with the most running events. Zuid-Holland and Gelderland were the second and third placed regions who organized the most running events with 360 and 280 respectively.
Another perspective of running shows that most are, with a little more than 75 percent, participating in running activities unorganized and individual. Roughly 25 percent mentioned to run with family, friends or neighbors and a little less than ten percent runs with a sports association.
