The domestic tourism spending as a share of GDP in Italy increased steadily from 2009 to 2019. In 2009, the expenditure by domestic travelers accounted for about five percent of the whole economy GDP in Italy. In 2019, the share of domestic tourism spending rose to 7.8 percent.
