Indian films released in theatres and cinemas abroad made about 16.7 billion Indian rupees in revenue in financial year 2020. This was expected to take a steep decline the following year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In fiscal year 2022, however, a growth of 2.5 percent was projected from 2020.
