Passengers in long-distance buses in Italy 2016-2018, by age group

Throughout the period from 2016 to 2018, individuals aged over 45 years made up roughly one third of the total bus travelers on interregional routes in Italy. The share of young travelers, aged between 18 and 24 years, decreased from 23 percent in 2016 to 16 percent in 2018. This could be due to several reasons. On the one hand, the share of young users using CheckMyBus might be decreasing, as more individuals prefer to use bus operators' websites, attracted by promotional campaigns directed at young travelers. On the other hand, it might be due to bus operators gaining customers with a higher willingness to pay, such as the ones in the 25-44 years range.
