Respondents knowledge of antibiotics in France 2016

This statistic displays the level of knowledge of respondents regarding antibiotics in France, in 2016. Antibiotics are medications that can kill or hinder the growth of bacteria which cause infections in people and animals. Antibiotics are not used to treat viruses. In 2016, 29 percent of respondents incorrectly answered when asked if antibiotics could kill viruses. 26 percent of respondents answered incorrectly when asked if antibiotics are effective against cold or flu, while 84 percent of respondents answered correctly when asked if unnecessary use of antibiotics could make them ineffective.
