India in global exports
The country’s share of commercial service exports globally was higher than the share of merchandise exports. However, the share of merchandise exports has been stable since 2015. Among the various goods exported that year from India, the leading commodities included petroleum products and gems and jewelry, apart from engineering goods.
EEPC India
To promote foreign trade and invest in the engineering sector, EEPC India – formerly known as Engineering Export Promotion Council was established by the Indian government way back in 1955. Apart from contributing to policies, it also acts as an advisory body between the engineering industry and the government. It is currently the largest trade promotion organization in the country, with over 13,000 members belonging to engineering companies, corporate houses, and small/medium enterprises. SMEs accounted for about 60 percent of their members.
