In 2025, it is forecasted that 28 percent of the crude oil produced globally will be produced offshore, while the remaining 72 percent of crude oil will be produced onshore.

This statistic has been assembled using two different reports. Figures for 2005, 2010, and 2015 were taken from the following report.
Offshore oil production is mainly concentrated in Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Mexico, Norway, and the United States, which produced a combined total of 43 percent of the offshore oil production worldwide in 2015.
