Revenue of AlliedUniversal worldwide 2015-2023
In 2023, Allied Universal generated approximately 20.6 billion U.S. dollars in revenue. In August 2016, the merger of AlliedBarton Security Services and Universal Services of America finalized, creating the North American leader in security services, Allied Universal. In April 2021, Allied Universal acquired G4S, making them the largest security services firm in the world, hence the significant increase in revenue between 2020 and 2021.
Global dominance
Since its merger with G4S in 2021, Allied Universal has been far and away the leading provider of security services in the world in terms of number of employees and annual revenue. In 2023, Allied Universal made 8.5 billion U.S. dollars more in revenue than its closest competitor - Securitas - in the United States. Just before the merger, G4S recorded a revenue of almost 376 million British pounds in the United Kingdom, with Allied Universal having not yet had a foot in the British security services market at this point.
A growing industry
As the security services industry has continued to grow, so too has its market size and workforce. In 2023, the industry with the highest level of employment of security guards in the United States was investigation and security services, with roughly 735,000 employed. In comparison, the estimated number of security guards in the United Kingdom was 148,200 in the first quarter of 2024, a decrease when compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the market size of the outsourced contract security industry in the United States has grown exponentially since 2014. Patterns would therefore suggest that the security services industry will continue on an upward trajectory.
