The highest number of fatalities caused by terrorism worldwide in 2022 was registered in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with over 3,400 fatalities. Moreover, the fact that five out of the 10 countries with the highest number of deaths caused by terrorism were located in Africa indicate the increasing presence of terrorist activity in parts of the continent. Meanwhile, the highest number of terrorist attacks that year was also in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
