This statistic shows the number of fatalities and injuries associated with selected BASF accidents from 1921 to 2020, most of which have occurred in Ludwigshafen, Germany, where the chemical company is headquartered. On October 17, 2016 four people died and at least 20 more were injured in an explosion at the Ludwigshafen North Harbor terminal. On September 4, 2017 one of the individuals injured in the October 2016 accident passed away. In 2020, one fatality for the company occurred at the Gunsan site in South Korea.

* The initial death toll of the 2016 accident in Ludwigshafen was three BASF employees and one sailor of a tanker that was moored at the harbor. On September 4, 2017 another BASF employee who was injured in the accident succumbed to his injuries.
