Top 20 travel agencies in the Netherlands 2018, by revenue

As of 2018, TUI Netherlands had a revenue of roughly 2.13 billion euros, which led to a number one ranking based on revenue. Second on the list was BCD Group (Travix: CheapTickets, Vliegwinkel etc) roughly 1.53 billion euros revenue, whereas D-rt Groep with approximately 650 million euros and ended third. When looking at the bottom of the list, Travel XL had 106 million euros revenue and Vakantieveilingen.nl/Emesa closed the top 20 travel agencies ranking with 105 million euros. However, based on the number of stores, D-Reizen was the leading travel agency with 217 stores, whereas VakantieXperts and TUI had roughly 200 and 140 stores, respectively.

Annual increase of revenue for Booking.com

Booking.com is a popular online travel fare aggregator website, headquartered in Amsterdam and a subsidiary of Booking Holdings. In 2016, the company generated a revenue of approximately 7.1 billion euros. It is a significant increase compared to the previous year, when the travel website had just over 5.65 billion euros. Booking.com also recorded the highest net result at roughly 2.44 billion euros. Since Booking Holding do not share the financial information about their subsidiaries often, more recent information was not available.

Increase in share of online holiday bookings

In general, the share of holidays that were booked online between 2016 and 2018 increased annually. From the young adults aged 18 to 25 years old nearly 60 percent booked their holiday online, whereas approximately 70 percent of the people that were between 25 and 35 years old booked their holidays on the world wide web. People aged 75 years and older booked their holidays more frequently online as well. 14.4 percent did so, a little more than double the share compared to 2016.
