Distribution of households in India 2019-2021, by size
Most households in India between 2019 and 2021 had between three and five people. The number of four-people households accounted for over 23 percent during the survey period. Interestingly, about four percent reported nine or more people in one household. Rural areas had a higher share of households with five or more members.
