Italian biofuel consumption for transport peaked in 2022, with a total consumption of some 1.57 million metric tons of oil equivalent. In the period of consideration, biodiesel consumption was significantly higher than biogas and biogasoline consumption. In 2022, the country consumed roughly 1.4 million metric tons of oil equivalent of biodiesel and 184.9 thousand metric tons of oil equivalent worth of biogas.
