The total number of visitors to state museums and similar cultural institutions in Italy increased sharply in 2023 over the previous year, recovering from the impact of COVID-19. While total attendance at state museums declined to roughly 13.3 million with the onset of the pandemic, it reached around 57.7 million in 2023, the highest figure reported to date.
