This statistic shows estimates of surplus food from major supermarkets in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2016. Tesco generates the highest volume of food surplus at 62.2 thousand tonnes, this was followed by Sainsbury's at approximately 38.8 thousand tonnes. It should be noted that supermarkets differ in their redistribution, food donation and waste policies.
