Export volume of automobiles India FY 2011-2024, by type
At the end of the fiscal year 2024, around 3.5 million two-wheelers were exported from India. After a long period of double-digit growth, two-wheeler export began to see a declining trend since financial year 2022. Passenger vehicle exports saw a slight increase; however, commercial vehicles, quadricycles and three-wheelers experienced a decline in exports.
Two-wheelers in India
In 2023, India emerged as the third-largest automotive market in the Asia-Pacific region, driven mainly by its two-wheeler segment. India became the largest global producer of two-wheelers, which included traditional and electric vehicles, manufacturing approximately 21.5 million units in 2024. Over one million electric two-wheelers were sold in 2024, with Maharashtra in the lead. Government initiatives, including the FAME II scheme and tax benefits, made electric two-wheelers more affordable, spurring growth in this segment.
Prominent players in the market

The brand experienced a remarkable growth in domestic sales and exports. Other key players in the industry included Honda Motorcycles & Scooters and TVS.
