Music events and concert organization agencies in Italy 2021, by region

As of June 2021, most Italian agencies organizing music events or concerts concentrated in Lombardy. This region ranked first with 145 agencies, followed by Lazio with 82 agencies. This scenario reflected on the expenditure of the audience on music events. In fact, Lombardy also ranked first with an expenditure of 112 million euros at the box office, followed by Lazio with 63 million euros as of 2018.

Milan’s preeminence

 Lombardy’s positioning in the ranking was due to the large number of agencies located in Milan, Lombardy’s main city. In February 2020, music events held in Assago - a municipality of the metropolitan city of Milan - attracted huge audiences, as the list of leading pop music concerts with the greatest audience in Italy showed.

Different types of music events

 The focus on pop music reflects the national offer in terms of music types. In Italy, 17,945 pop music concerts were held in 2018, while classical music followed with 17,469 concerts. Lastly, jazz was played only in 4,690 concerts. Pop music concerts tended to be performed more frequently in July and August, when 2,347 and 1,752 concerts took place, respectively.
